I know in the scheme of recent events, a broken flower pot should not cause grief. But there it was it was. We had carefully moved it to (we believed a sheltered spot) and despite all our care a last blast of winter had swept down to destroy it. This magnificent vessel had been created to give pleasure and help green things flourish. Something beautiful had ended.

A few weeks later I remembered the hive and decided it should be put away. I lifted up its lid and there was the most beautiful nest. It was composed of hay and feathers and the most tremendous heat emanated from it. Cautiously I investigated further and found it contained several baby field mouse babies.
