The Little Gull is one of my favourite birds and I enjoyed painting him against a vivid grass background, rather than the sea. Here he is in winter plumage, quite at home on Southsea beach. I have given a slightly stylised edge to the background. At the time I had the image of ancient Egyptian plant paintings.. The grasses are repeating, two dimensional images. I drew them using a waterproof ink pen.

This print is a standard A4 size and looks very handsome in a white frame and mount.

Printed on 300 gram card this charming bird is a robust and long lasting print.
